COME AND WRITE THE STORY WITH US...
The Story Island Project is a new non-profit organisation dedicated to getting young people excited about writing and giving them the tools they need to be confident writers at school and beyond.
Our goals are to nurture a generation of storytellers and build literacy skills among young Tasmanians. Our focus is on young people aged 6–18, living in Hobart’s northern suburbs.
The Story Island Project celebrates the power of a story, and the people of an island.
At its heart is a commitment to young people and their right to tell and hear stories. It has a vision to improve literacy and help build confident, creative communities.
Story Island seeks to change the narrative – to celebrate the tales of overlooked communities and to enable young people to tell their own.
Following the success of similar models in cities and countries around the world, the Story Island Project now arrives on these shores, fuelled by a rich international history, but honed to best suit a Tasmanian landscape.
The Project is ready. The Island is ready. The stories are definitely ready and being unearthed far and wide. Now all we need, is your support.
If you want to help us provide local young people with tools for literacy and the opportunity to share their view of the world, please join us at the official Story Island Project launch.
This is the first chapter in a grand, unfolding narrative. We welcome you to write this story with us.
RSVPs are appreciated. Please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
